In the first meeting between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, it was a Jakub Voracek goal for the home side that separated the two teams. While New York may have left the "City of Brotherly Love" with a loss, this time, they welcome their division foes to Madison Square Garden hoping to do the same. With both teams trying to keep pace with division leader New Jersey Devils, expect another tight contest. The Flyers take on the Rangers on Tuesday, January 29 at 7:00pm ET. Read on for the NHL 13 prediction.
As expected, we had another close match and it required a shootout to determine a winner. New York Rangers Winger, Rick Nash opened the scoring for the home side in the first period with Flyers Defenseman, Kimmo Timonen tying the game up in the 2nd. With honors still even after the extra frame, the match went to a shootout, with Jakub Voracek scoring the only goal to give the away side the victory and two crucial points.
As with most low-scoring matches, it was goaltending that stood out. Flyers netminder, Ilya Bryzgalov earned First Star honors thanks to his 35-save performance. Henrik Lundqvist was awarded the Second Star behind his 31 saves while Rick Nash was named the Third Star for his goal-scoring performance.
