SimCity With Offline Play Now Available

You’ve been asking for it – now get ready to play SimCity anytime and anywhere you go. The new Single-Player Mode is now available for SimCity as a downloadable game update (at no cost) for all players.

“We’ve listened to our players and today we are delivering against their most direct feedback with the release of the new Single-Player Mode,” said Patrick Buechner, GM of Maxis Emeryville. “Player feedback has helped us deliver 10 major gameplay Updates that have improved the experience with better tuning, new features and free content. This is the most definitive SimCity experience whether you choose to play Online or Offline.”

Getting the Update is easy, you will automatically receive it the next time you log-in to play. After the download is complete, you will have the option to play either way; the new Single-Player Mode, which enables Offline Play, or continue to play in the Multiplayer Mode Online.

The Single-Player Mode retains the same expansive feel of the core SimCity gameplay while adding more control over when and how your progress is saved. Multiplayer Mode continues to deliver the SimCity experience that includes SimCity World, Leaderboards, Achievements, dynamic pricing of resources in the Global Market and Cloud Saves.

For more information about the Single-Player Mode, how it’s different from the Multiplayer Mode, the new world of possibilities for Modders and to watch a new walkthrough video, visit the SimCity blog and read all about it from Producer Meghan McDowell.

Hi, Thanks for the much needed update. Are you guys going to implement a patch that will allow users to play multiple cities concurrently? That'd be more than amazing. It would literally complete SimCity. KaziQ

Six things that would be outstanding. 1.) City reset so you can rebuild. 2.) Paste sports fields and parks in any open area. 3.) Sidewalks that you can create between buildings to attract sims to go to a particular place such as a Casino or other Tourist site. 4.) Bring back subways, 5.) Make the city area larger about 25% larger. 6.) And please regenerated the water table faster. I just get a city to a point where it is making big simoleons and the water runs out then the city falls apart.

I can't believe how many people love this game. I used to play Simtower, and some of the older games, but now it has become something that has to take over your entire brain to run, and it is no longer fun, just a job. I'm not thrilled with the controls on the Mac version, and I would rather eat dead, maggoty rats than go back to Windoze, although their version probably wouldn't be any better, because they never are.
